Mustard Seed Faith
Unfortunately many modern English translations talk about faith "the size of a mustard seed," but the Bible actually says that God's kingdom and faith are "like a mustard seed," or "as a mustard seed."

20 “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove;
and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Jesus referred to some as being "ye of little faith"; and on occasion, we read where He spoke, "Greater faith have I not seen..." Let's meditate Matthew 17:20-21 for a moment to determine if Jesus was telling His disciples that it takes only a tiny bit of faith to move a mountain; or was he telling them the kind of mountain they were trying to move outweighed their tiny measure of belief.
been successful tells us they went out with an expectancy that their measure of belief was enough to cast out the demon.Our answer, found in verse 21, lets us know Jesus was saying the mountain they were trying to move was stronger than their measure of belief.

The fact that they returned to Jesus unable to understand why they had not
